Hi,

I did some testing with rr and after effects cs5.
I found out that I need to enable " allow scripts to write files and communicate over a network" in ae to have royal render working.

I've still an issue: if an user is logged on the workstation royal render does not work if that user has not set the preference as stated before. There is any way to force royal render to render in after effects using always the same user?

Many Thanks

Hi

The setting is required to send jobs, but not to render jobs.

But it is required to login with the royal render user and start afx once to license it:

Thank you,

I forgot to mention that we are on mac osx and royalrender is running as root user.
Do you think is better to use a non root account?

Thank you
Stefano

I do not know where Afx saves its preferences on a mac.
Afaik root has a different home directory than default users.

You stated that if someone logs in and has the script preference disabled, then it is also disabled for the root user running the rrClient? (and therefore it will not run). So I assume the preferences are not on a per-user base, perhaps in the afx application folder. Which would mean two different users will have the problem, no matter if one is root or not.

A different scenario would be that AFX does not use the right function to get its prefs folder.
It does not check which user executes afx, it checks which user is logged in.

I fear the scenario is the second one (or at least AFX gets confused if more than an user is executing AFX).
AFX on mac store the preferences on a per user base.
I'll try to set preferences correctly for root user and see what happens.

Thank you.
