Just wondering, it would be super useful to be able to just connect and get a list of all running jobs etc.

Alternatively, how about something like a web service to get that kind of info?

Right now, you can only write a plugin for the rrServer or read the local website. (And change their template)

Does that mean "No, there are no plans for a public Python API"?

There will not be any other SDK connection.
And if, then it would not be possible via python, it has to be C++.
The data has to be requested via TCP/IP and is then send in compressed blocks.

There are plans to create a commandline app to query jobs.

About the web interface.
You can modify the local website as you like. Then you have your job list in e.g. an xml file.

And this cannot be done with a c++ compiled python library? Even if limited in the beginning it would be a huge help.

Perhaps this could be done with a c++ python library, but first the commandline output application.
