Hi Holger,

Was investigating if the Volume Cloud could use the AGE% feature built into XSI particles to control the transparency, as you would do with the normal XSI particle shader to fade out smoke for e.g. as it ages - but could not find any way to do this - any chance this could be added in to a further release???

Thanks

Sandy

I think this could be integrated into the PT_Metaball shader.
Similar to the color gradient.
For now you have to animate the transparency in your Ptype.

Note: There is/was an XSI bug, that the animated transparancy was not cached, if you don't animate the color. You have to animate the color only a tiny bit.

I tried animating the transparency of the Ptype, but it did not seem to carry through - the transparency was still coming from the volume density! I may try it again, and see if the colour animation helps! Thanks for your help

Are you using a pick alpha channel between the PT_metaball and the volume density?

Hmm
If you take a look at the oil fire sample scene or some of the basic particle samples, there I have animated the transparency of the Ptype.
So it should be working.
