I'm trying to drive the BA_Volume Cloud's: Global Density attribute by a particle attribute,

So initially I've tried to create a PDC cache with a particle system that has a 'UserA' (or 'userA', tried both) attribute, assigned it a value of 50.
In the BA_Volume Cloud node, I'm attempting to drive the Global Density via a "BA particle Info" Node and selecting : Type = UserA
Start = 0
End = 1
New End =1
Clamp Output Range = Not Checked


My render result is an empty image... looks like the pdc's are reading via the PT_Loader, but no -non zero values in image. I'm guessing that the global density is being read, and erroring, or being set to zero.

If tried using : Type = Age
Start = 0
End = 100
New End =100
Clamp Output Range = Checked
With same results.

Anyone can help please? Thanks!

What inputs / outputs should I connect for this?

ie:

i) BA Particle Info Node(type set to UserA) : output -> particle_density3 node: Global_gradient_densityR
ii) particle_density3 (i'm assuming the particle density3 vs particle density node) : OutR Value->
BA Volume Cloud:ParticleDensity_globalscale ?


And have particle system have an attribue PP: UserA = 30;

Does this sound correct? I've tried it, but I'm getting :

In your first render log, the particle_density has shown the number of particles loaded.
In the second not. No matter where you connect the shader, it should still load the particles.

Then there is only a Particle Density 3 shader and not an Particle Density shader in the collection.
Perhaps you have an old version?
Please remove and reinstall the files with the latest version.

Anyway, Global_gradient_density is wrong for per-particle-shaders.
Please read the help file:

Then global scale of the volume cloud is not textureable:

And at last, if you want to drive the density/transparency of your volume, I would modify the densityPP of the particle instead using a color channel of the particle_density. Or you could also drive the Density Texture input of the particle denisty shader.

"opacityPP" ? Or do I added anper particle attribute called "densityPP"?


Also: "Or you could also drive the Density Texture input of the particle denisty shader." Is this done via BA_particle_info node, and creating a 'userA' attribute or one of the pre existing attributes like 'age' ?

Any demo files to demostrate this?
