I came across problem on my 64bit machine. When I'm using sequence checker and its imf_disp viewer it usually happens that it won't show any progress on image just black.

I'm find out some interesting behaviour,

when I open frame which is already rendered but still has icon the frame is rendering imf_disp shows me the rendered image correctly/otherwise your internal viewer is invoked/.

I have proved by changing of imf_disp file on server to 64bit version it starts behave correctly but unfortunately
doesn't work on 32bit machines obviously. But the most mysterious thing is that on the other 64bit machine it is working fine even with 32bit version. Confused

Do you have an idea why is this happening on my machine? All machines share same Royal Render folder, settings and so on.

Thank you in advance

Note: If the frame is done, then the imf_disp opens the file and does not open a network connection to the other machine.

Do you use the same windows on your 64bit and the other 64bit machines?

yes

I noticed if I try to uncheck "reconnect" option in imf_displ it makes it crash. /32bit ver./

when I'm using local copy of my 64bit imf_disp everything goes smooth.

I'm not understand why this works on other 64bit machine whereas on my not.

EDIT: Ups I didn't realize I've created this thread in wrong forum, sorry for that it might be good to move to proper place.

Which software are you using with imf_disp ?

When rendering process start, MentalRay create your output image with size 128KB containing information about rendering such as: width, height, host and port.
Its looks like this:
ray3.6,1280,720,dino,4435,1.000000,4520,4809

While rendering process running MentalRay's framebuffer is writing image to temp directory... (image name somethink like this: fb0001)

When you open your 128KB image file with host informations in imf_disp it connect to host and read host framebuffer.

But, a lot of users have problems with:

1. Firewalls, because ports are blocked. You can try turn off you firewall, if you have some.
2. When you using Maya, you need to modify Maya.env file to enable framebuffer reading for imf_disp.

imf_disp have problems with custom gamma. Crashing. (maybe bug)
