Hi there,

I am really interested in utilising the visbool shader for a current project where I think it may be useful. I have been unable to find any solid documentation on it up to now and

I get the general theory of what the shader does but I am a little unsure of how I should connect it all up in Maya.

Do the groups of objects need to be associated in their own maya sets and then the sets connected into the visbool shader directly?

I cant for the life of me seem to suss this out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben @ The Mill

Hi

I know, the help files in the addon are not much about that shader.

There in an example for XSI.
Otherwise, you have to use it as first shader like the color_switcher (There is a maya sample for that)

There is one issue with Arnold:
They have changed their message system at some point. So it is not possible to hide shadows any more.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I seem to have it working, which is great. I have however ran into another issue which maybe you could shed some light on.

Its a very straight forward set-up. I have 3 objects and am trying to exclude the direct specular of object 1 from object 3, whilst still having it effect object 2.

I have been able to achieve this but the resulting direct specular of object 2 does not contain any of the direct specular of object 1.

Its tricky to explain but I hope that kind of makes sense?

Thanks,

Ben

So far it sounds like it should be possible what you describe.
But I do not know what's not working in your case.
