Hi, I 've updated to 6.02.42 and there seem to be an issue with the WakeOnLan.
In my setting
In previous version, jobs were able to wake up renderfarm machines even outside of the "Do Not Shutdown" period, now it looks like it won't anymore.
autoWOL for render jobs is selected for my group renderfarm and WOL supported too ( and it was working as expected until update)
Did something change that I need to adjust in the config ?
here is a screenshot of one render machine config:

after further testings, it looks like the problem comes on nuke jobs, whatever the config is, while .bat jobs submitted with rrsubmitter will WOL the same machine... |

JUst to confirm: If you send a WOL command via rrControl, then it works?
There was a bug report about auto-WOL issues, but a fix will be implemented into RR 7.0 as this is the current development version. _________________ Holger Schönberger

yes WOL works if triggered manually
I've done some checks and it only happens with nuke, works for maya or .bat.
Do you expect to release a final fix for 6.XX users ?
I mean, there are bugs that have been introduced recently and today I would rather have stayed with older version that being on this "hybrid" 7/6 version.
I'm ok to go to v7, but it is not on my top priority investments, cause v6 was doing the job correctly. |

Right now RR 6.0 has a lower priority.
There will perhaps be one last RR 6.0 version with some fixes (3-4 weeks from now), but first we have to push the next RR 7.0 release.
We have to make a cut at some point.
For example you just bought RR 6.0 once 24 months years ago.
And since then you have received updates new features, all for free.
With any other software you would still just have the version you bought 2 years ago. _________________ Holger Schönberger

I got the point and I thank you for that .
I've just updated once since I bought RR (my last additionnal buy was less than a year) and I found myself with issues I hadn't .
-problems with user access rights
-problem with WOL
As we are not in a big production peak, this is absolutely not an issue, but I'm scared to discover new issues when I'll have much more load.
I was wondering if I should'nt downgrade to the previous "known stable version" , but I don't know if downgrade is something that can be done ?
Rgds
BTW: how stable is RR7 now, is it at least equivalent to 6 at its best ?
I may try and convince the boss to put the upgrade higher on the priority list. |

A downgrade might be possible, but then you can loose all jobs that are on the queue.
RR 7.0 is more stable and has less bugs than RR 6.0. _________________ Holger Schönberger

Version 6.2.50 will be available this week.
It is an update for the rrServer (including the WOL issue) _________________ Holger Schönberger

It was added to the 6.0 section of the download page.
Not to the top of the page. _________________ Holger Schönberger

Yes, you can directly update from your version.
And the 7.0 features cannot be activated. _________________ Holger Schönberger

Hi, when I launch the updater, it says "Wrong CRFC checksum, please re-download and/or re-extract
File broken: bin\win64\rrClientconsole.
I've re downloaded and it is the same
Can you please check that.? |

I am re-uploading the zip files now.
(They should be available in about 15 minutes.) _________________ Holger Schönberger

Sorry I took the installer instead of the updater ( so be aware the installer has the CRC error as well)
With the updater it is now ok
Installed the version and WOL for nuke are now solved, thanks for that! I can turn my farm of nightly again
in the process i also found another file that was an avast false positive (rrClientcommander.exe) and reported it to avast, I hope tomorrow all the files are whitelisted definitely.

Ah, ok. I check the installer as well.
About the avast messages: All applications that they found are the smallest apps in RR.
They have no UI, they do not use external libraries, kept very small.
Probably the same that a virus do. _________________ Holger Schönberger
